Oliver Thorne is widely recognised for his expertise in police misconduct and professional disciplinary proceedings. He regularly represents both police forces and individual officers in misconduct hearings often in cases attracting significant public and press interest. He has been described in the Legal 500 as "an extraordinarily knowledgeable police misconduct practitioner and a pragmatic advocate."
Oliver is appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair for Police Misconduct Hearings in the North West, and has gone on to be appointed to the East Midlands, Wales, London and Yorkshire and Humber regions. He regularly advises panels at Misconduct hearings.  He is also frequently instructed in cases involving judicial review of misconduct decisions, giving him a strong understanding of the regulatory process at every stage.
