Olivia Checa-Dover successfully presents sexual impropriety case during “hybrid” police misconduct hearing

01 June 2021

Following a hearing conducted at North Yorkshire Police Headquarters between 29 June and 2 July 2020, a Police Misconduct Panel found the behaviour alleged against PC Shawn Jagger proven.

Specifically, the Panel found that PC Jagger had met a vulnerable female after she reported an incident of domestic violence via 999 in February 2017. PC Jagger then commenced a relationship with the vulnerable female between June and November 2017.

The Panel found the Officer’s behaviour to be a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour relating to Discreditable Conduct, amounting to gross misconduct. Their decision on outcome was that the Officer be dismissed without notice.

Olivia presented the case on behalf of the Appropriate Authority. The hearing was hybrid, in that some participants attended in person and others via Microsoft Teams.
