Simon Mallett has recently returned from delivering advocacy training with the General Council of the Bar of South Africa in Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. The training took place at the Pumula Beach Resort, south of Durban.
Simon trained pupils alongside trainers from the South African Bar, Singapore and Scotland. Simon previously trained in person in South Africa in 2017 and provided online training there in 2021. He was training on behalf of the Inns of Court College of Advocacy with Rehana Azib KC, who was training on the Train the Trainers course.
Simon said:
“It was a great privilege to have the opportunity to train pupils in Kwazulu-Natal. There were pupils from various Bars in South Africa including some based in Bloemfontein, Makhanda, Bhisho and Johannesburg. It was inspiring to train with members of the South African Bar, the International community and the South African Judiciary and experience their own commitment to the rule of law.
It is always different training in Africa and a troop of monkeys making their daily appearance outside the training room provided an interesting local backdrop.”
