Tony Dunne receives police award for kidnapping and torture case

05 March 2020

Tony Dunne has received a Divisional Commander’s Commendation from West Yorkshire Police for his prosecution of Operation Titanford- a six week trial following which two defendants were convicted of affray, kidnapping, false imprisonment and causing GBH with intent. Both received sentences of 15 years imprisonment. The case arose out of a drugs dispute which led to the victim being abducted and tortured, including by having boiling water poured over his genitals. Chief Superintendent Julie Sykes, Kirklees Division Commander, commended Mr Dunne for his “can-do attitude throughout a difficult investigation”.
