Conor Quinn, Daniel Penman and Becky Jane each acted for a Defendant in a case of possession with intent to supply of cannabis at Sheffield Crown Court. On execution of a warrant in 2017 the police discovered Shane Oxley, Conah Smith and Danielle Carr in a house in South Yorkshire, along with £5000 worth of cannabis. On arrest Mr Oxley admitted that the drugs were his in an attempt to protect his friend and his partner.
Oxley, represented by Mr Quinn, received a suspended sentence with 120 hours of unpaid work.
Smith, represented by Mr Penman, received a suspended sentence with 100 hours of unpaid work.
Carr, represented by Ms Jane, received a community order with a three month curfew, having pleaded guilty to permitting use of a premises for supply of cannabis.
Notably, it was successfully argued that the delay over over two years between detection and prosecution of the offences should lead to a substantial discount.
