Charles Blatchford secured unanimous acquittals on all counts in the trial of AT in Sheffield Crown Court after 6 day trial.

10 April 2026

Charles was instructed by David Kaye of GWB Harthills Solicitors, Sheffield.   AT was accused of serious offences stemming out of an unhappy relationship.  Charged with controlling and coercive behaviour, sexual offences, strangulation and numerous assaults, the evidence at first look seemed overwhelming.  Family members and friends of the complainant gave evidence supporting the allegations.  There was video evidence of incidents of aggression from AT and also him damaging property.  Careful and detailed analysis of the evidence by the defence team at GWB Harthills showed that there was serious exaggeration in the accounts given to the court.  Carefully unpicking what seemed like a very strong neat case against AT, the jury acquitted AT after only a short period of deliberations.
