Adam Keenaghan was instructed by HNK solicitors on behalf of the Claimant in an action against Thames Valley Police arising out of the Claimant’s arrest for an alleged theft. The Claimant, a 61-year-old disabled man, sustained a broken wrist during the course of the arrest. He was detained in his home for about 32-minutes whereupon he was de-arrested, and no further action was taken against him.
After a four-day trial before HHJ Clarke sitting with a jury at the Oxford Combined Court Centre, the jury returned favourable answers on the questions left to it. Judgment was entered in favour of the Claimant. Damages, including aggravated damages, and costs were awarded.
Adam has substantial experience acting in claims for unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, assault, and other private law actions against the police.
