Crime

Prosecution and Defence work undertaken across the full range of criminal offences. A Grade 4 prosecutor, he is regularly instructed in cases involving white collar fraud, homicide, serious offences of violence, rape, historic child abuse, and drugs offences.

A Grade 4 prosecutor, he is regularly instructed in prosecuting serious sexual offences and in the use of intermediaries to assist vulnerable witnesses.

Experienced in advising upon all aspects of Human Rights law and regularly contributes commentaries for publication.

  • R v Sayner (CPS York) - Historic Rape and indecent assault upon 10 year old girl.
  • R v Webber (CPS Harrogate) - Historic attempted Rape and Indecent Assault.
  • R v Peart (CPS Teesside) - Prosecution involving a series of Rape allegations.
  • R v Hipkiss (Defence) - A mother charged with Manslaughter of her own child.
  • R v Barnes et all (Defence) - Customs and Excise prosecuted fraud valued at in excess of £2 million
  • R v Al-Jaadi (Defence) - Conspiracy to supply drugs worth in excess of £80,000
  • R v Allen, Ullah & Grantham (Defence) - 'Gangland' murder trial.
  • Regularly instructed as junior counsel in murder and manslaughter trials.

Personal Injury

Experienced in all aspects of personal injury litigation, acting on behalf of both claimants and defendants. Involved in many claims relating to noise induced hearing loss, vibration white finger and other industrial diseases. Regularly instructed in Fatal Accident claims. Undertakes work on a Conditional Fee basis where appropriate.

Police Work

Acts for the police in a wide range of non-criminal police work, including coroners’ inquests, licensing, cash forfeiture hearings and Sexual Offences Prevention Order applications.

Employment

All aspects of litigation and advisory work, with particular focus upon cases involving sexual and disability discrimination.
