Civil Practitioner with an emphasis on personal injury, general chancery, employment and all aspects of non-criminal public law/police work. Undertakes both contentious and all aspects of non-contentious work. Is available to provide training to legal/commercial clients. Ian has a nationwide practice, including Northern Ireland. Accepts work on a direct access basis.

Experienced in all aspects of non-criminal police work including misfeasance, coroners' inquests, police pensions, licensing, disciplinary proceedings and injury litigation

On-going Cases

Dowson and Others v Chief Constable for Northumbria Police: A multi-claimant harassment action brought by a number of officers against their management. Total claims exceed £1.5m.

Instructed by West Yorkshire Police in 7 July bombing inquest.

Personal Injury

Experienced in all aspects of personal injury litigation, acting on behalf of both claimants and defendants. Has particular knowledge of all aspects of industrial disease related litigation. Has acted alone in a number of claims valued in excess of £1m. Undertakes work on a conditional fee basis where appropriate

Chancery

Frequently instructed in a variety of contentious and non-contentious chancery work. Experienced in all aspects of land related disputes.

Employment

Regularly undertakes both litigation and advisory work. Acts both for Respondents and Claimants.

Has particular knowledge of claims involving public bodies/authorities such as Police Authorities and the N.H.S.
