Crime

Recent cases have included Conspiracy, Arson, robberies and serious assaults, and Proceeds of Crime Confiscation Hearings (POCA).

Experience of defending at Court-Martial, including having assault charges dismissed at the close of the Crown's case.

Grade 3 Prosecutor
Acted as Disclosure Counsel in a high profile case in Sheffield, which involved considering a large volume of sensitive medical and social services material in a short period of time.

Has attended training in the use of scientific expert evidence.

Reported Crime Cases:

  • R v Banerjee [2007] EWCA Crim 1680 - Advised, drafted grounds of appeal and appeared for the Appellant at the Court of Appeal. The Appellant's conviction for a serious offence was quashed as a result of fresh evidence, despite his former legal team having advised that there were no grounds of appeal due to his having pleaded guilty to the offence.

Family

Currently representing a mother in ongoing care proceedings with a 35-day time estimate, involving a number of medical expert witnesses to issues which include a disputed autism/ fragile- X pre-mutation diagnosis in respect of one of the 3 children in the case.

Civil

Personal Injury including Employers' Liability, Occupiers' Liability and Road Traffic cases. Particularly interested in Industrial Diseases cases and experienced in Limitation hearings.

Accepts instructions in a wide range of civil work, which has included Professional Negligence and Torts.

Employment

Representing both Claimants and Respondents in unfair dismissal and unfair redundancy claims.

Immigration

Experienced in representing Sri Lankan and Eritrean Appellants in Asylum cases at first hand appeals, and in making applications for reconsideration to the Immigration Tribunal and to the High Court.
