Olivia Checa-Dover successfully presents misconduct case on disclosure of confidential police information

09 March 2020

Olivia Checa-Dover successfully presented a misconduct case on behalf of Northumbria Police’s Appropriate Authority in relation to a retired Inspector accused of disclosing confidential police information, having an inappropriate association and conducting searches of police systems without a legitimate policing purpose.

Following a three-day misconduct hearing, the Panel found all of the allegations proved and determined that the former officer’s behaviour amounted to gross misconduct. The Panel further found that had the Inspector remained an officer, he would have been dismissed. The hearing was held in private, following a determination from the Legally Qualified Chair hearing the proceedings, but permission was given for the result to be published in a redacted form.
